We are seeking an experienced Open Pit Manager to lead and manage our open pit mining operations, ensuring excellence across safety, technical delivery, and commercial performance. This is a senior leadership role with accountability for life‑of‑mine planning, contractor performance, and operational outcomes across the open pit function.



About the Role

Reporting to the Operational General Manager, this is a site‑based position operating on an 8:6, 4:3 roster. You will be responsible for the effective management of the Group’s open pit mining division and for delivering strong operational, safety and commercial outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overall leadership of open pit mining activities, including safety, technical and commercial performance
  • Development and management of open pit Life of Mine plans and scenario modelling
  • Financial assessment of mining projects and mining areas
  • Budget preparation, forecasting, accruals and cost control
  • Active management of mining contractors to ensure contractual, physical and commercial performance
  • Identification and delivery of continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
  • Leadership, mentoring and performance management of open pit leadership teams
  • Ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, Mines Regulations, and company policies

About You

You are a seasoned open pit mining professional with a strong operational and commercial mindset and a proven ability to lead high‑performing teams.

Essential requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in a mining‑related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the mining industry, including at least 5 years in gold
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in open pit mining and in a leadership role
  • Unrestricted Quarry Manager’s Certificate of Competency
  • Eligibility to be appointed as Site Senior Executive under the Mines Regulations
  • Strong knowledge of WHS Act 2020 and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Membership with AusIMM

Highly regarded:

  • First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate
  • Demonstrated success in contractor management and cost control
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels
  • A continuous improvement mindset aligned with company values
